Abstract
543,007. Springing for chairs, mattresses, &c. BAKER, R., and JUBILEE FLOATING SPRINGS (A. PARKER), Ltd. Oct. 17, 1940, No. 15389. [Class 52 (iv)] A spring unit for chairs, settees, mattresses and the like of the kind wherein helical springs 3a, 3b are supported on interlaced wires 4 connected to the rigid frame by horizontal tension springs is characterized in that the regions subjected to the greatest loads are provided with stronger helical and tension springs. In the chair seat, Fig. 1, the stronger helical springs 3a are shown enclosed by broken lines and the stronger tension springs are indicated by the references 5a. As applied to a mattress, Fig. 2, the central longitudinal rows (enclosed by broken lines) are provided with stronger helical springs 3a, and their supporting wires are connected to stronger tension springs 5a.
