Abstract

675,832. Seats; upholstery. SADGROVE, W. H. Jan. 2, 1951. No. 191/51. Classes 52 (i) and 52 (iv). The chair &c. described in Specification 466,728 is modified so that the foundation for the upholstery or loose cushions of the seat and back is of hammock form which is flexible and extensible in the direction of its length and is connected to the top of the back frame and to the transverse member carried at the front edge of the seat by the leaf springs. The back part of the foundation comprises three spaced strips 12, 13, 14 of metal or other flexible sheet material connected at the top by springs 15 to the chair frame and by similar springs 21 to spaced strips 17, 18, 19 forming the seat foundation the latter strips being connected at the front to a transverse member 20 carried by leaf springs 22, 23 connected at the rear to the chair frame. Arm rests 9 are provided.
