Abstract
975,136. Loose covers for chairs. L. G. PODMORE. April 25, 1963 [Jan. 25, 1962; Aug. 9, 1962], Nos. 2837/62 and 30561/62. Heading A4M. A loose cover set for an upholstered armchair or settee comprises separate first and second parts, the first part being shaped to cover the arms, seat, front and sides of the chair and the second part being shaped to cover the back-rest. As shown in Fig. 2 the first part of the cover set is adapted to conform to the size of the armchair seat and arms by having the excess material 17, 18, so tucked into the spaces between the arms, seat and back. The rear ends 21 of the side panels 14 are made long enough to extend at least part of the way across the back of the chair and are held together by tape or elastic passed through loops 22. Further tape loops 22<SP>1</SP> are provided for use on small chairs. Flaps 23 are formed on the tops of shaped sections 11 to tuck in at 24, Fig. 1. The other part of the loose cover set, Fig. 3, has tape loops 30 so that the lower end of the back panel 29 may be tied to a front panel 16 of the first part of the cover set, tape loops 31 being provided on the panel 16. An ornamental frill 36 is secured to the panel 16. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) the frill is made of two parts.
