Abstract

A piece or suite of upholstered furniture has a permanently fixed set of covers under a set of loose removable covers. The loose covers are supplied with the suite or piece of furniture and the furniture can be used with or without the loose covers. <IMAGE>

Description

COMBINATION FIXED/LOOSE COVERED UPHOLSTERY CHAMELEON CONCEPT This invention relates to a suite or piece of upholstered furniture which has a set of loose, removable covers.
Removable covers, often called loose covers, are presently used in the ,furniture industry in two ways.
1.1 As a product sold separately from the original furniture and intended to cover up old or worn furniture.
1.2 As a product sold along with furniture covered in Calico or similar fabric. This furniture is made specifically to be covered up by the loose covers.
These two uses of loose covers are well established in the furniture industry.
In 1.1 the original furniture was not produced for the purpose of carrying loose covers and, in 1.2 the furniture, covered in Calico or similar fabric, is not intended for use without its loose covers.
This invention is t manufacture an upholstered piece of furniture which is covered with a serviceable and usable fabric and to produce and sell, at the same time, a removable set of covers to be used with this upholstered furniture.
A specific embodiment of the invention is described below. A three piece suite would be produced in hard-wearing velvet or similar fabric, suitable for fixed upholstery. A set of loose covers will be produced in a printed cotton fashion fabric which can be removed and dry cleaned. The suite will be marketed as a combination of fashionable and hard-wearing furniture, easily interchangeable to suit the occasion in the home or place where the suite is used.
The purpose of the invention is to make upholstered furniture which is more versatile in its use. For example; the suite can be used in either of its two forms to create a particular atmosphere in the home. The velevet or fixed CHAMELEON CONCEPT Cont/...
cover can be used for every day vse and the loose covers stored for special occasions.
The fixed cover on the suite would be applied by the any conventional upholstery methods and the loose covers would be manufactured in the mony conven- tional ways presently used.

Claims (6)

  1. COMBINATION FIXED/LOOSE COVERED UPHOLSTEY CHAMELEON CONCEPT 1 A piece of upholstered furniture which is covered in a serviceable and usable upholstery fabric and then covered again in a removable fashion cloth. The furniture can be used for the purposes normally associated with upholstered furniture with the loose covers on or off.
  2. 2 A piece of furniture as claimed in Claim 1 which can be of any asthetic design, using the principle of one fixed covering material and one loose cover.
  3. 3 A piece of furniture as claimed in 1 pnd 2 and also incorporating any bed settee action.
  4. 4 A piece of furniture as claimed in any above claim and incorporating a recliner chair action.
  5. 5 A piece of furniture as claimed in Claims 1, 2 and 3 and incorporating a rocking chair action.
  6. 6 A piece of furniture as claimed in any above claim and having leather as the fixed covering material.
