Abstract

513,387. Resiliently-supported seats. ELLIOTT, N. C., and PRINGLE, G. Dec. 28, 1938, No. 37589. [Classes 52 (i) and 52 (ii)] In an arm-chair or the like, the seat frame 4 is pivoted at the front to the fixed frame, and supported by resilient means, e.g., springs 10, and the back 11 is pivotally connected at its lower end to the fixed frame near or below the level of the seating surface of the seat, and is adapted to yield backwardly against the action of resilient means such as springs 18. The movement of the seat and back are independerit. The side members of the back are hinged at 13, and bolts 14 pass through the sides members and through clearance holes in the relar members 19 of the fixed frame. Springs 17 and 18 are threaded on the bolts 14 and are retained by nuts and washers.
