[Class 110 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] The speed of a multistage centrifugal pump D supplying feedwater to a forced flow steam boiler A is automatically controlled in accordance with the pressure gradient across the first pump stage, and the supply of water to the pump is regulated in accordance with the temperature or pressure of the boiler steam. The pressure across the first pump stage acting through a servomotor H2 so regulates the steam valve F of the pump turbine E that the pump maintains a speed ensuring that the first stage impeller is at all outputs at least partially filled with water.
