Abstract

470,887. Boiler - pressure relieving- means ; hot - water storage apparatus. SCHMIDT'SCHE HEISSDAMPF-GES. Sept. 25, 1936, No. 26113. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1935. [Class 123 (ii)] Excess steam from a boiler 1, Fig. 2, of small water content is condensed by direct contact with a spray or a cascade of cold or slightly heated water in a drum 9 under boiler pressure. Water is sprayed into the drum from a pipe 13 branched from the feed pipe 11 between the feed pump 3 and a feedheater 4. When the steam supply valve 7 is shut, the feed water supply is stopped either by hand or automatically and a valve 12 in the pipe 13 is opened. Water flows from the drum through a float valve 16 in a pipe 27 back to the feed tank 2. In a boiler with convection circulation, the drum 9, Fig. 4, is connected to the bottom boiler drum, and the boiler feedwater flows into the drum 9 over a cascade heater 14. The spray 10 is supplied with water forced from a chamber 20 by a differential piston 21 acted upon by the boiler steam pressure. The chamber is connected to the feed pipe 11 through a non- return valve 28.
