[Class 64 (ii).] In a pulsating circulation of hot water, oils or alcohol solution by intermittent variation of the boiler-pressure, the reduction of pressure therein is initiated by a direct interchange between the boiler 1 and a displacement vessel 2 associated therewith of boiling and cooler water effected thermosiphonically and independently of the variations of boiler pressure so that steam generation is temporarily abated. When the boiler pressure rises, water is expelled by steam from the displacement vessel 2 through a pipe 3 to the radiators 4 and thence to an expansion chamber 6. When the level in the vessel 2 falls, a float 7 therein sinks and opens a valve 8 to permit direct thermosiphonic interchange of the cooler water in the vessel 2 and the boiler water. Boiling is thus interrupted, pressure falls and water returns from the expansion chamber 6 through a pipe 13 with a non-return valve 14 to the vessel 2, until the float rises and closes the valve 8. An air vent 11 with a small hole 12 is provided in the boiler or chamber 2 and may discharge air and a little steam into the expansion chamber 6. Water may be heated in a tube 16 in the vessel 2, which may help condensation of steam.
