Abstract
467,051. Turbines. ESCHER WYSS MASCHINENFABRIKEN AKT.-GES. June 17, 1936, No. 16871. Convention date, June 19, 1935. [Class 110 (iii)] A turbine drive for ships with at least two propellers, has at least two series-connected high pressure turbines 1, 2, and the exhaust steam from these passes into parallel-connected turbine groups comprising intermediate and low pressure turbines 30, 32 and 31, 33 respectively which deliver power to the same propellers as are driven by the high pressure turbines. Steam is supplied from the high pressure steam generator 3 through the pipe 4 to the turbines 1, 2 and the exhaust passes through the superheater 5 to the pipe 7 from which the other turbines are supplied. If desired, a low pressure generator 9 may supply steam to the pipe 7. The turbines 1, 30, 32 are geared to the propeller shaft 19, the high pressure turbine 1. being connected through a clutch 10<1>. The turbines 2, 31, 33 are connected similarly to the propeller shaft 29, and the low pressure turbines 32, 33 contain reverse stages 34, 35.
