Abstract
461,629. Cathode-ray tubes. COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., and STEVENS, W. H. Aug. 19, 1935, No. 23280. [Class 39 (i)] In a tube having an accelerating electrode which does not intercept the beam and is so arranged relatively to the fixed potential cathode and negatively-biassed intermediate electrode that the ratio of the controlling effects on the beam of the accelerating and negatively-biassed electrodes is of the order of unitv or more, modulating potentials are applied to the accelerating electrode. The accelerating electrode and preferably the negatively-biassed electrode in addition may be connected to their bias sources through decoupling resistances, and modulation is then applied through a condenser to the accelerating electrode and then through an additional condenser to the negatively-biassed electrode. Specification 450,940 is referred to. According to the Provisional Specification, the accelerating and negatively-biassed electrodes may be connected through a condenser and modulation applied through a further condenser to either of them, or they may be at fixed potentials and modulation applied to the cathode.
