Abstract
452,730. Television. COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., BEDFORD, L. H., and STEVENS, W. H., Highbury Grove, London. March 1, 1935, No. 6542. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] To prevent burning of the fluorescent screen, the cathode-ray current is reduced when the scanning oscillations cease. The deflecting oscillations are applied to C1, Fig. 3, and are rectified by the diode stage of the diode-triode V to apply a prohibitive bias to the triode stage. When the deflecting oscillations cease, this bias is removed and the valve V effectively short-circuits the anode A1 and cathode F of the cathode-ray tube. According to the Provisional Specification, the cessation of the line scanning potentials is utilized to control the framing potential. A valve V5, Fig. 2, supplies charging current to the condenser C5. The line scanning potentials are applied to C1 and rectified by the diode V to supply a cut-off bias to valve V6. When the line deflecting oscillations cease, the valve V6 becomes conducting to discharge the condenser C5.
