Abstract
435,623. Television. BROADWAY, L. F., 6, King's Avenue, Ealing, and TEDHAM, W. F., 267, Woolwich Road, Abbey Wood, both in London. March 26, 1934, No. 9473. [Class 40 (iii)] The characteristic, representing the relation of the modulating-voltage to the fluorescentscreen current in a cathode-ray tube, is varied without altering the disposition of the electrodes 2-7. The tube has accelerating electrodes 4, 6 before and after the modulating-electrode 5, as described in Specification 431,327. A variable resistance 16 is inserted between the accelerating-electrode 4 and its tapping 17 on the supply potentiometer 10, 11. The tapping is adjustable, preferably simultaneously with variation of the resistance 16. According to a modification, the modulating voltage is applied to a variable extent to both the controlling electrode and the screen 3 round the cathode 2, Fig. 2 (not shown). The bias on the controlling grid and the cathode screen is adjustable, preferably simultaneously with variation of amount of the modulating-voltage applied.
