[Class 39 (i)] A gas-filled cathode-ray tube for television and like purposes comprises two electrode systems each consisting of two mutually perpendicular pairs of plates arranged about the mean path of the ray and at different points along its length. In one form, each pair of deflector plates has associated with it a pair of plates producing a weak, constant transverse field at right-angles to that of the deflector plates. The arrangement eliminates the " ion cross " on the fluorescent screen.
