459,704. Valve gear. BLTRT, P., Hollybank, Silverwells Crescent, Bothwell, Lanarkshire. Aug. 22, 1936, No. 23129. [Class 7 (vi)] The sleeve valves of a radial-cylinder engine are actuated from cranked shafts 6, two adjacent ones of which are driven by spiral gears 9 on a shaft which is transverse to the crank-shaft 4 and geared thereto by spiral gears 7, 8. In an engine with an odd number of cylinders, valve-actuating shafts 6 between two sets of spiral gears are driven by coupling- links 11 connecting cranks of three shafts 6 as shown in Fig. 2. In a modification, the intermediate shafts 6 may be arranged between shafts driven by the spiral gears 9 of the same set. Specification 459,702 is referred to.
