Abstract

454,453. Boiling-pans. MORTON & CO., Ltd., R., and RAWLINS, G. A., Trent Works, Burton-on-Trent. May 9, 1935, No. 13651. [Class 64 (i)] A wort &c. heating vessel has a hood 11 extending above the liquid level for circulation of heated liquid therethrough, and above the hood is a deflecting baftle 15 of inverted conical form with its inner surface inclined continuously upwards from its centre to its outer edge so that an annular channel 23 is formed between the hood and the baffle to discharge liquid upwardly and outwardly. The baffle 15 is of concave curvature from its apex to its edge and is adjustably supported by rods 18 on a rim 22 of the hood, which is bent outwardly to form an annular channel 23 converging towards the outer edge. The hood may be raised or lowered in the vessel by a chain 26. The heating-means may comprise steam pipes 8 on which the hood may be mounted by clips 28, or the vessel may be heated externally, e.g. by a steam jacket on the base, which may be of dished form.
