Abstract

527,286. Oil burning heaters. SHELL MARKETING CO., Ltd., and SAMBROOK, K. H. Feb. 2, 1939, No. 3563. [Class 75 (i)] An orchard or like heater comprises an oil vessel 1 with air admission openings 5 above the oil level and a central tube 2 partly submerged in the oil and extending upwards through an opening in the top 8 of the vessel from which it is spaced by an air admission gap 3. The portion of the tube 2 within the vessel 1 is provided with openings 4, 7 below and above the oil level respectively. The oil vapour burns at the top of the tube 2 to which additional air may be admitted through openings 6. Some of the openings 5 may be provided with downtake tubes which are uncovered when the oil level drops.
