Abstract
308,822. Lejay, R. March 30, 1928, [Convention date]. Chimney and ventilating-shaft tops.-The external wall of an open-ended chimney or ventilating-shaft top 1 is a surface of revolution which when viewed in elevation is of convex curvature increasing from the top to the bottom of the member. The member 1 is fitted at the top of the shaft 2, and at its base is provided with a series of apertures 4 separated by webs 3 by which it is fitted to the shaft 2. A skirt 1<a> may be provided if desired. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the member 2 has " a directrix in the form of a polygonal line or closed curve, and a generating line in the form of a broken line or curve which is outwardly convex." Figs. 3 and 5 (Cancelled) illustrate a member 1 the curvature of which does not increase from top to bottom; and the member 1, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), is provided with a ring of holes 4<a> encircled by a tubular member 1<d>. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
