Abstract
528,009. Chimney and ventilator cowls. LUDLOW, E. R. April 26, 1939, No. 12477. [Classes 25 and 137] An extractor ventilator or cowl comprises an outwardly flared extension l on the stack pipe k, a domed cover m of approximately the same diameter spaced away from the extension l, and one or more intermediate flared annular baffle members n of approximately parabolic cross-section arranged between the extension and cover to form annular passages tapering off in width towards their open-ends, each annular passage being surrounded by an annular shield or suction ring r, s of curved or shallow trough form with its concave face outwards. The stack pipe k and lower parts of the baffles n, preferably extend a short distance upwards in the extension l and upper parts of the baffles to form water traps having escape apertures g. According to the Provisional Specification the baffle member n may be omitted.
