Abstract
463,690. Chimneys &c. SNELLING, J. C. Oct. 1, 1935, No. 27033. [Class 25] A ring section for use in the construction of a chimney or ventilator of the superposed louvre type comprises upper and lower wall surfaces b curving inwardly and vertically upwards as arcs of substantially the same curvature and circumferentially spaced seatings a inset from the top edge j of the section to provide in the assembled chimney unobstructed air passages around the top edge of the section and between the upper wall surface and the inner edges h of the seatings. As shown, seatings are formed on both the upper and lower surfaces, the seatings of adjacent sections being adapted to interlock and to be secured as by bolts through holes i. One ring section f is made integral with the upper part of a tubular member e forming the base of the assembled pot. The upper part of the member e tapers inwardly and the upper edges of sections successively increase in diameter from the - bottom to the top to form a downward taper as shown by the lines k. The assembled device may form the top of a chimney or ventilating shaft or may be employed as an intermediate section of the chimney or shaft, in which case the upper ring section of the device is adapted to receive a tubular extension.
