Abstract

<PICT:0439255/III/1> A degassing-apparatus comprises a heated evacuated chamber 1 containing pairs of slightly conical baffles 4, 5 and distributing cups 14 between each pair of baffles provided with slots or weirs 15, whereby the liquid is evenly distributed over the upper baffle of each pair irrespective of its rate of flow. The downwardly extending exhaust pipe 28 may have a cooling jacket 29 and an outlet 32 for condensate. The inlet pipe 17 has a non-return valve 19.
