Abstract
382,801. Cooking in fat and oil. PITMAN, J. C., 9, Linwood Street, Cliftondale, Saugus, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Dec. 17, 1931, No. 35001. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1930. [Class 28 (i).] A container for holding liquid fat for cooking food having one wall exposed on one side to the source of heat and on the other to the liquid is provided, between the wall and the place in the liquid where the food is cooked, with a funnel-shaped member having a row of screened holes in its lower part and a row of unscreened holes adjacent its upper rim, so that matter precipitated from the food is caught and held out of contact with the heated wall. A frame 1 with an open base 2 is supported on legs 3 and fitted with a frame 4 supporting a kettle 6. A funnel-shaped member 18 is removably mounted within the kettle with its top rim 14 adjacent the side thereof. The closed neck 15 of the funnel fits loosely within a hole 6<1> in the base of the kettle. A row of screened holes 16 is provided in the bottom of the funnel and another row of small unscreened holes is provided adjacent the upper rim 14. A cross-bar 19 serves as a convenient aid for removing the funnel. The kettle is heated by a gas ring 20. A draw-off pipe 24 with a valve 21 is provided for running off the liquid from the kettle.
