Abstract
453,037. Valve accessories. KOSMOS HEIZUNGSARMATUREN- & METALLWAREN-FABRIK GES., 40, Schillingsrotter Weg, Rodenkirchen, near Cologne, Germany. Nov. 20, 1935, No. 32215. Convention date, Dec. 1, 1934. [Class 135] In a regulating valve for heating-systems or the like having a guard cap g which shrouds the valve spindle d, the packing gland f, and the lock nut c of an auxiliary pre-setting sleeve a, the unauthorized removal of the cap g for the purpose of adjusting the sleeve a is prevented by a threaded sleeve h in the throat of the cap, this sleeve being operated by a suitable key so as to abut directly or indirectly through an intermediate member, a part of the valve such as the gland nut f, so that the cap is slightly raised and the bayonet or other connection k by which the cap is secured to the valve is locked or clamped in position. The nut c is formed with cams or projections l for engagement with two inclined ridges k in the cap g, which form a bayonet connection. The sleeve h has internal grooves i for engagement by the key. Fig. 5 shows a form in which the sleeve h is rotatably connected to a bell-shaped member n having a serrated lower edge cooperating with projections l<1> on the nut c. The bell n has projecting ribs p taking into recesses in the guard cap. In this way rotation of the guard cap is also prevented. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers also to a screw-threaded connection between the guard cap and the valve. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
