Abstract
164,456. Lloyd, W. E., Gerhold, A., and Amos, A. W. March 3, 1920. Stops, adjustable; locking.-A stop valve is actuated by a cap with internal threads working on a threaded portion of the valve casing so that more rapid actuation is obtained. The valve c opening against the pressure of the fluid is made integral with its spindle f and is formed with a bevelled and rabbeted seat. The upper part of the casing is threaded externally at d and co-operates with a cap c. The spindle f is squared where it passes through a washer g, and the latter is polygonal and fits into a similar recess in the cap e. The parts are secured by a nut i which may form or be covered by a cap r. An adjusting nut l to limit the opening of the valve may be provided with a bevelled surface m which engages with the lower end n of the cap e to provide an additional closure against leakage.
