Abstract

220,113. Kershaw, J. March 8, 1924. Closure members. - A screw-down valve is provided with a downward extension of the spindle which operates an auxiliary valve below the main seating, the auxiliary closure member being loose on a plug member. The main valve 19 co-operates with a detachable seating 20, and; a downward extension 17 of the spindle is provided with a squared end 36 fitting into a plug 31. On withdrawing the spindle and upper valve by unscrewing, the plug 31 is screwed upwards until the valve member 30, which is free to turn on the plug, closes against the lower seating 28. The two valves are held apart, by a sleeve 34.
