Closure members.-In a tap, valve, or cock of the kind comprising in addition to the main valve, such as 3, a spring-supported auxiliary valve, such as 9, disposed on the pressure side of the valve seating, the spring 13 is disposed within the guide recess for the stem 10 of the auxiliary valve and acts upon the end of the stem in conjunction with fluid pressure admitted to the guide recess by a small passage or passages 17, for lifting the auxiliary valve 3 to the closed position. The bottom of the guide recess is fitted with a screw plug 14 which is removable for cleaning or inspection. The upper part of the screw is provided with flat portions 15 to allow of the escape of dirt without completely removing the screw plug.
