[Class 135.] A screw - down lift valve 9, 10 is pivotally connected to its operating spindle 6 by a ball and socket bearing, as shown, and has a depending stem 11 abutting against a subsidiary spring-pressed valve member 12, 13 which closes upwards under the valve seating 2 to shut off fluid when the upper (main) valve 9, 10 is withdrawn for repairs.
