Abstract

232,233. Bowler, T. April 14, 1924, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Lift valves; seats; repairs, facilitating.-A valve of the lift type having a spherical ball valve member has the ball 21, Figs. 2 and 4, loosely held in a clawlike member 22 the fingers 23 of which are T-shaped in cross-section and are bent inwards below the centre with the rib of the section facing inwards. The ball is thus free to rotate when raised and is self-cleaning. A reversible flanged seating 17, Figs. 2 and 5, is secured by a flanged screwed ring 18 notched at the top to receive a tool. The, seat is mitred, at 20, at one side but is plain at the other side 16 so that when reversed it can be used with a plain disc valve member which may be substituted for the ball. A conical surface 30 is adapted to abut against a corresponding part 31 on the cover 8 to seal the spindle against leakage when the valve is fully opened.
