Abstract

208,807. Warne, W. T. Sept. 30, 1922. Double beat valves.-The jumper of a screw-operated valve is arranged on the pressure side of the seating and is provided with a tapered portion which enters the passage-way to produce a gradual opening and closing. The valve member comprises a metal disc f formed on a rod h which extends on both sides. A rubber or fibre washer i is held in position by a tapering nut k, and the upper end of the rod h is rounded for engagement with a cup-shaped recess q at the lower end of the screwed spindle n. The valve member is pressed towards its seating bv the fluid pressure and by a spring l. A gradual closure of the fluid passage is ensured by the tapered form of the nut k which enters the passage. In a modified construction, the part k is an integral part of the valve structure and its base is surrounded by an annular washer.
