Abstract
186,225. Giles, A. T. Aug. 15, 1921. Closure members.-In a screw-down lift valve of the kind in which the usual valve or jumper c controls a supplementary valve, which closes the passage a when the main valve is withdrawn, the supplementary valve e is pressed towards its seat d by a spring f, but is normally kept within the recess k by means of a rod e<x> which projects upwards into a central opening in the jumper. When the valve c is withdrawn, the valve e is allowed to move upwards and close the fluid passage.
