Abstract

226,087. Vencl, Z. April 4, 1924. Hinged valves; closure members. - A hinged valve is operated by a spindle at right-angles to the axis of the seating, provided with an eccentric portion co-operating with a non-circular bore. The valve A has a hub B through which passes a spindle C carrying an operating lever E. The bore in the hub B is non-circular of the shape shown, and the spindle C has a longitudinal groove carrying a roller D of such a diameter that it extends outwards from the spindle a distance equal to the depth of the eccentric portion of the bore. When the spindle C is turned anti-clockwise, the valve disc first pivots about its lower edge so that it opens slightly at its upper edge, and then swings as a whole into a position at right-angles to the seating. The roller D may be replaced by other equivalent devices.
