Abstract

292,405. Madeley, F. V. Nov. 3, 1927. Lift valves; casings; actuating-mechanism.-In a stop valve having a right-angled one-piece casing of globular form with an upstanding neck in which the spindle screws, the spindle 12, Fig. 2 carries the valve member 9 in such a manner that the valve rotates with the spindle when lifted but does not rotate when in contact with its seating 8. A packing recess 5 is formed by an internal flange 6 which serves also as a stop to limit the lift of the spindle. The gland 14 may have a tubular extension 20, Fig. 3 for use with an operating key. The handle 15, Fig. 2 may be secured by a nut 17, as shown; or a rounded-top handle may be secured by a nut 22, Fig. 4 sunk into a recess, as shown. The valve member is mounted on the spindle by means of a head 11 engaging a recess in the valve member and secured by a side screw 18, or by a screwed bush; or, alternatively the head 11 may slide into a lateral slot in the valve member and be secured by a tangential split pin.
