Abstract

Lift valves; valves fitted with independentlyactuated supplementary valves.-Relates to valves of the type described in Specification 6113/12 comprising an auxiliary valve 30 screwed into the valve casing by an upper part 16, and a main valve 20 seating within the auxiliary valve, as shown, and carried by a securing-member in the form of a cap 40 screwed into the auxiliary valve member. An extended friction surface, such as a tapered recess and extension 41, 42, is provided between the parts 16 and 40 to enable the auxiliary valve 30 to be raised to its closed position by rotation of the cap 40. The cap 40 and main valve 20 can then be removed for repairs. The friction surfaces 41, 42 may be replaced or supplemented by a grub screw 44 and a groove in the member 16. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the cap 40 passes within an upstanding flange of the member 16 in conjunction with a sliding locking-pin.
