Abstract
168,220. Marks, E. C. R., (Combustion Engineering Corporation). July 12, 1920. Combined rotary and sliding cylindrical valves.- A throttle valve of the plug type i s provided with means for adjusting the amount of opening for a given rotation of the plug. A valve casing 1 is provided with a cylindrical bore which receives a plug 6 having a diametral opening 6<1>. The plug is rotated by a handle 9 through a shank 8 which is square at its lower ends and fits into a square recess 7<1> in the plug. An adjusting-screw 10 is provided with a head 12 which enables the plug to be moved longitudinally without rotation. When the plug is in the position shown, the amount of opening of the valve is proportionately reduced for the whole range of movement of the handle 9.
