Abstract

247,389. Claudel, C. H. Feb. 16, 1925. Spray carburettors.-The starting or slow speed nozzle comprises a flexible tube 8 one end of which is rigidly mounted on the main nozzle 5 with outlet orifices 6, the other end being free and capable of being moved aside as the throttle valve is closed, the outlet at this end communicating with the space beyond the throttle valve. The tube, by its elasticity, tends to assume an upright or axial position and lies in a groove 12 in the butterfly throttle valve 9 when the latter is fully open. A screw 14 is adapted to control the outlet of the tube, and such screw may be hollow to admit additional air, or the tube 8 may be periorated for the same purpose. The flexible tube may be used in conjunction with a rotatable plug type of throttle valve by forming in the bore thereof, diametrally opposed notches. Specification 241,853 is referred to.
