Abstract

281,104. Triumph Cycle Co., Ltd., and Sykes, A. A. Dec. 20, 1926. Starting. - In a compression-relief device in which an exhaust-valve rocker 3 is fixed to a spindle 4 movable endwise under the control of an adjustable abutment to bring the rocker into engagement with a decompressor cam 16. the abutment is a rod 10 slidable transversely to the spindle 4 and provided with a step adapted to be engaged and travelled over by a transverse face on the spindle. As shown, the rod 10 has stepped conical recesses 14, 15 for engagement by the conical end of the spindle 4, which is thrust endwise by a spring 7 bearing through a ball 8 against the bottom of a blind bearing 9 for the spindle. The rocker 3 is secured by a pin 5 to the spindle 4, on which the rocker 2 or the inlet valve is loosely mounted. The movement of the abutment rod 10 may be limited by a pin 18 on the casing engaging a slot in the rod. The decompressor cam may be constructed as described in Specification 268,984, [Class 80 (iii), Link-work &c.].
