Abstract
161,302. Pearson, J. Jan. 10, 1920. Stops, adjustable.-The hand-wheel of a stop valve is provided with an adjustable fitting whereby its maximum opening is determined. A slotted plate X is fixed by a bolt K to any fixed object and carries a spindle F having a square shank which supports an arm P. The hand-wheel B is opened to the required maximum amount, and the fitting A is then attached to the rim adjacent to the arm P so that it acts as an adjustable stop. If several turns of the spindle are required to open the valve, the stop may be set at a " by-pass " position by drawing the arm P off the square portion of the spindle F and allowing it to fall until the bolt G is in contact with the stop J. The bolt G is adjusted until the arm P is just above the rim of the hand-wheel in its screwed-down position, so that the wheel may be partly rotated to allow a small flow through the valve.
