Abstract

175,929. Ross, A. June 1, 1921. Piston valves.-A valve of the kind described in Specification 16764/12 is modified by connecting the lower end of the spindle directly to the valve, which is also provided with means for preventing its rotation with the spindle and with means for preventing access of pressure fluid to the stuffing-box when the valve is open. A sliding piston valve F is provided with a curved passage for connecting the parts C, D, and with a facing F<2> which effects an additional closure when the valve is screwed down. The operating- spindle G is formed with a head G<4>, which engages in a slot F<7> in the top of the valve. To prevent rotation of the valve F, a pin J engages with a longitudinal slot F<1> in the valve. The upper end F<s> of the valve is formed of the same shape as the cover of the casing, as shown, so that access of pressure fluid to the stuffing-box E<1> is prevented when the valve is open. Specifications 24010/09 and 19603/12 also are referred to.
