[Class 107] A manhole cover a seating on a ring band having a joint-ring h, is locked in position by one or more spindles c mounted in the cover, each spindle having a base-member c<3> provided with a single lug c<4> and with a cam surface g which engages with a cam face on the ring b, so that the spindles, when rotated, unlock and raise the cover. The cover may be hinged.
