451,590. Cathode-ray tubes. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Feb. 4, 1935, No. 3612. Convention date, Feb. 2, 1934. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] [See also Group XX] In tubes for television &c. and having fluorescent screens coated on the side facing the cathode with a thin metal layer removing charges from the screen, the metal layer is of barium, potassium, caesium, magnesium or other metal of similar secondary emitting properties and low density to help in the removal of space charges near the screen by its secondary emission and to make the layer transparent to electrons. The layer is formed by vaporizing the metal from a side branch of the tube after evacuation and sealing off and acts as a " getter."
