Abstract

451,119. Pipe joints. SWINDIN, N., and NORDAC, Ltd., Rosslyn Crescent, Wealdstone, Harrow, Middlesex. Feb. 8, 1935, No. 4174. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint of the kind in which a pipe of rubber or containing rubber has its flared end clamped on to a tapered union-plug by a sleeve and coupling nut, the plug, sleeve and nut are formed from or coated with a corrosion-resistant material comprising rubber, preferably the material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Vulcoferran." Two pipes are connected by a double conical plug 29, sleeves 34, 35 and a nut 36 screwing on to sleeve 34. The coned plug is formed as shown to connect pipes of different sizes. In joining a pipe to a valveplate 40, Fig. 3, a metal nipple 42 having a tapered extension 44 is screwed into the valve plate, the nipple and rear side of the plate having a covering 45 of corrosion-resistant material.
