Abstract
443,399. Valve gear. CATTANEO, G., 32, Via. G. Leopardi, Milan, Italy. March 8, 1935, No. 7346. [Class 7 (vi)] The valve cam shaft or equivalent timing- mechanism is driven through a resilient coupling disposed between the engine shaft and the reduction gearing forming the main driving-mechanism of the engine. The Figure shows the engine shaft a coupled resiliently through an intermediate shaft c to the power transmission gears e, f, the shaft c having claw couplings at band d. The drive for the cam shaft &c. is then taken from the wheel e or other part of the resilient coupling, for example through gearing i and shaft l, or through spur or helical gearing.
