Abstract

439,875. Spray carburetters. BOUDET, R. P. M., 37, Quai Marcellis, Liege, Belgium. March 14, 1934, No. 8074. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 18, 1934]. [Class 7 (iii)] The carburetter comprises an upper connecting portion 1, a middle portion 2 and a lower or float chamber portion 3 all held together by a stirrup 4 and screw 6, Fig. 1. The middle portion extends downwardly at 11 into chamber 3 and is provided at its lower end with a filter 12. The extension has an axial bore which accommodates a nozzle 14 having a screwed upper part 15 formed exteriorly with helical grooves 24. The lower end of the nozzle has a calibrated orifice 17 and is surrounded by a space 21 which is open to atmosphere through duct 22, and is in communication with the bore of the nozzle through holes 23. The upper end of the nozzle is surrounded by a choke tube 27 below which radial air inlets 26, Fig. 3, are arranged. The throttle spindle 29 is bored at 30 to communicate at 31 with the engine side of the throttle 28. The bored portion has holes 33, 34, Figs. 2, 5, with which grooves 35, 36 in a sleeve 37 may be made to register by rotating said sleeve by an arm 38. Sleeve 37 controls communication between bore 30 and conduits 40, 39 for slow speed and power running, said conduits receiving fuel from the float chamber 3 through conduit 43, Fig. 2. Two screws 44, 45, Fig. 5, provide adjustable air inlets. Another auxiliary nozzle is provided at 46, Fig. 1, is supplied with fuel through conduit 47 and delivers mixture separately to the cylinders through a channel 48 and a branch conduit. All the nozzles open substantially at the same plane and are readily accessible. The carburetter may form one part of a dual carburetter for supplying two kinds of fuel. Thus, in Fig. 6, the carburetters are connected by conduits 50, 50<1>, each having a throttle, 28, 28<1>, and united in a part 55 containing a throttle 54. The throttles 28, 28<1> are interconnected by a rod 52, and are actuated by a rod 53, one of the throttles being closed when the other is open. The spindle of the throttle 54 is of the kind described with reference to Fig. 5, and the throttle is actuated by link 58 and arm 57 the latter being connected by link 59 to an arm 60 of a valve 61 in a branch conduit 62 in communication with the nozzle 46 of Fig. 1.
