Abstract

591,209. Spray carburetters. SOC. NATIONALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS AERONAUTIQUES DU CENTRE. May 2, 1945, No. 11182. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1944. [Class 7 (iii)] A carburetter of the type having a Venturishaped tube 2 with holes 5a, 5b through which the fuel enters placed at the throat, one wall 3 of the tube moving transversely to reduce the cross sectional area and simultaneously vary the number of holes uncovered, is adapted for use with two or more different fuels or with fuel and water. The holes 5a, 5b, or at. least one set, are unequally spaced, and are arranged in rows of unequal length. They are fed with fuel through revoluble or non-revoluble valves 10a, 10b from two or more float chambers 7a, 7b which contain different fuels. Alternatively one may feed fuel and the other water. The remotely controlled rod 12 causes the valve 10b to slide vertically so that some of the holes 5a may be uncovered by the block 3 before holes 5b. The last two of holes 5b, of greater size than the remainder, are uncovered after all of the holes 5a are uncovered. The stems of the valves 10a, 10b are fitted with blind air bores connected to the fuel grooves by radial holes. Slow running mixture is fed through channel 14 adjusted by the slotted sleeve 15. The float chambers may be replaced by fuel feeding pumps.
