Abstract

397,991. Spray carburetters. WYNNE, C. H. L., KNOTT, E. W., and MILLER, A. C., c/o Bendix-Perrot Brakes, Ltd., King's Road, Tyseley, Birmingham. June 4, 1932, No. 15713. [Class 7 (iii).] In carburetters in which means are provided for supplying at starting from cold a mixture independent of that supplied by the main jet, a passage e leading to the induction passage beyond the throttle valve h is adapted to be placed, by a valve d, into or out of communication with a passage j having two branches leading through calibrated orifices l, n to atmosphere and to a fuel supply respectively. In a modification, the valve is rotatable and has an axial bore communicating with the inner inclined fuel supply tube of the carburetter described in Specification 387,350. The valve may be actuated by hand, by a thermostat or by a combination of the two. A thermostat may be arranged to prevent opening of the valve except when the engine is cold. The valve may also be connected to the throttle valve through slotted links, levers and a spring in such a manner that the throttle opening is limited whilst the starting device is in use.
