Abstract

271,893. Ken-Crip Corporation, (Assignees of Kennedy, G. L.). May 26, 1926, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors. - A floatless spray carburettor comprises a hand-actuated, axiallymoving, combined air and fuel valve 7 having orifices 8 which regulate the air supply by association with orifices 9 in the carburettor casing and an orifice 11 which regulates the fuel supply by assocation with a fixed needle 14, the arrangement being such that the ratio of fuel to air is constant. The, valve is lifted bv a rack and pinion. A union 16 is connected to the fuel supply pipe and a spring-pressed valve 28 may be opened to admit fuel by a passages 32 at starting. The needle 14 may be replaced by a tapering slot in an extension of a, part 10 which regulates the fuel supply by association with an orifice 19. The part 10 may screw into the bass of the valve 7, so that relative adjustment between the slot and the orifice 19 is provided for. A block of fibrous or porous material, e.g. balsa wood, may be fitted inside the cup of the valve 7; this block has a concave base to form a dome-shaped chamber over the orifice 11 and is set back from the orifice 8 and its upper part. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a further modification. as shown in Fig. 8 (Cancelled), in which the valve 7 carries an inverted cup member 40 having a fuel nozzle, 42. A pair of thin resilient flaps 44 are mounted as shown and the orifices 8 are replaced by orifices 50 in two sector-shaped packing pieces which form a parallel-walled chamber for the flaps 44 to move across under great suction by the engine. The needle 14 is mounted in a screwed sleeve 51 which has a radial arm for angular adjustment. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
