Abstract
406,469. Carburetters. SOC. DES CARBURATEURS OILGAZ, 45, Rue do Colombes, Courbevoie, Seine, France. Feb. 9, 1933, No. 4035. Convention date, May 19, 1932. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 10, 1933.] [Class 7 (iii).] In a carburetter having separate float chambers and slow running nozzles for gasolene and heavy hydrogen respectively, and a main nozzle to which gasolene or heavy hydrocarbon may be fed, a single member controls communication between the float chambers and the nozzles and may occupy any of at least three positions, the first connecting the gasolene float chamber with the gasolene slow running nozzle and the main nozzle, the second, the heavy fuel float chamber with the corresponding slow running nozzle and the main nozzle, and the third, the gasolene float chamber with the corresponding slow running nozzle and the other float chamber with the main nozzle. Float chambers 1, 2, Figs. 1 and 6, for light and heavy fuel each contain a float excessive rise or fall of which is prevented by spring blades 3a. Passages 21, 22 lead from the chambers 1, 2 to a conical recess for a control plug 19, disposed in the body portion 3 of the carburetter in which the float chambers are formed and a main or power nozzle 5 is provided. Passages 25, 26 connect the opposite side of the recess to the main nozzle 5 and passages 23, 24, Fig. 4, lead to light and heavy fuel idling nozzles 6, 7. A diametrical passage 27 near one end of the control plug is adapted to connect the passages 21, 25 and supply light fuel to the main nozzle 5, a radial passage 28 leading from the passage 27 simultaneously supplying the passage 23 leading to an idling nozzle 6, Fig. 1. A quarter turn of the plug, cuts off the passage 21 from the passage 25 and brings a port 33, leading to the hollow interior 29 of the plug, into line with the heavy fuel passage 22. Simultaneously, another port 31 makes connection between the interior 29 and the passage 26 to the main nozzle and a port 32 opens the way to a heavy fuel idling nozzle 7. The next quarter turn cuts off both fuel supplies and a final one registers a port 34 with the passage 22, a port 30 with the passage 26 and the passages 28, 27 connect the passage 21 to the nozzle 6, the arrangement providing for the supply of heavy fuel to main nozzle and light fuel to the idling nozzle 6. The nozzles 6, 7 operate in a by-pass 8, parallel to a choke tube 4 containing the main nozzle 5, the effective cross section of which is adjusted by a screw 14, and an air by-pass, diametrically opposite the by-pass 8, is controlled similarly. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes another form in which the light and heavy fuel nozzles, 5, 57, Fig. 16 (Cancelled), are disposed in separate tubes 11p, 11q controlled by valves 104 mounted in a common plane on a common spindle 105 and similar valves govern the air inlets. A common rotary plug 106 having passages 107, 108 at right angles to one another, determines the supply of light or heavy fuel or both, and a pair of valves 110, 111 in the plug move therewith but may be independently rotated therein. Pilot nozzles 6, 7 are controlled by a conical plug 118 having passages adapted to register alternatively with by-passes 114, 115. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
