Abstract
A steel alloy comprises 8-18 per cent of chromium, 15-25 per cent of manganese, 3,5-8 per cent of silicon and 0,01-1,5 per cent of carbon, the remainder being iron containing sulphur, phosphorus and the usual impurities. The silicon may be wholly or partly replaced by aluminium and the alloy may also comprise 0,2-3 per cent in all of one or more of the elements tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, titanium or tantalum. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to British Specifications 9316/87, [Class 82], and 375,776 and French Specification 754,263.
