437,250. Hand-irons. LANDBERG, J., 8, Lonnvõgen, Alingsõs, Sweden. May 13, 1935, No. 14055. Convention date, May 14, 1934. [Class 138 (ii)] Legs 1, 2 for supporting the iron at a distance above the work table when not in use are pivoted at the points 9, 10 to a frame 4 secured between the handle bracket 21 and body of the iron 20 and are biassed by springs to the operative position but are held in the inoperative position shown against such springs by a latch. The legs are connected by a link 3 which is jointed to a lever 6 pivoted at 11 to a stationary bracket 5 and having an arm provided with a thumb-piece 8 and a slot 16 which is engaged by a spring-pressed bolt 13 slidably mounted in the bracket 5 and provided with a push-button 12. Release of the latch is effected by pushing in the button 12 and the parts are relatched by pressure on the thumbpiece 8. Stops 34, 35 coact with abutments on the frame 4 to limit the movement of the legs under the action of the springs. In a modification the legs are locked in the inoperative position by a spring pressed ball engaging an aperture in the lever 6.
