Abstract
400,073. Retractive switches. FELDMAN, J., 10, Flensburgerstrasse, Berlin. March 8, 1933, No. 7010. [Class 38 (v).] A switch that may be readily attached to the handle of an electric iron or other tool comprises an operating lever d pivoted to a base a having attachment feet b. Each foot b has a curved part to give rigidity and a flat part for securing to the handle c of the iron or tool. The lever d, which moves downwards against a retractive spring e, has pivoted to it an arm g<1> carrying loosely a contact g and acted upon by a compression spring h. By this arrangement the contact g aligns itself with and slides along the two fixed contacts f. In modifications. Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the moving contact enters between and presses apart two contacts mounted on leaf springs. The switch may be held in the "on" position by rotating a screw i so that it engages a flange on the plate a or a spring- influenced peg i may be used that is automatically released on full depression of the lever d as described in Specification 400,033. The switch may be used with the plug described in Specification 400,032, [Group XXXVI].
