Abstract
436,459. Rope railways. BRITISH ROPEWAY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and ROBERTSON, C., 14, High Holborn, London. April 11, 1934, No. 10948. [Class 104 (ii)] In an overhead cableway supported on two masts 10, 12, which are pivoted at their lower ends to permit them to swing laterally, the main supporting cable 14 and its associated traversing and hoisting ropes 18, 24 are supported by frames 34 adapted to swing on horizontal spindles 32 mounted in frames 30 fixed at the tops of the masts, so that when the masts are inclined laterally, the frames 34 will remain vertical and keep the ropes vertical one above another. The main cable 14 is pivoted at 44 and 46 to the two frames 34 below the axes of the pins 32, and the sheaves 22, 23 supporting the traversing rope 18 are carried by an arm 48 attached to the frame 34 of the mast 12. The sheave 21 for the rope 18 is carried on an extension 52 of the mast 10, and the sheave 20 for the ropes 18, 24 is carried on a bracket 54 swinging on a horizontal axis 56 depending from the frame 34.
